I had the pleasure of having David as an opponent on many occasions during the last 30 years. I can only echo the words of the other tributes. As a person he was warm, kind and generous and as an opponent he epitomised the best in our profession: knowledgeable, skilled and persuasive (even when under fire). The tragedy is that he had so much more to give. Paul
