David had been a student at Trinity College Oxford and he was one of the first alumni I came across when I started to work for the college some years ago. He retained his interest in all that was happening and his enthusiasm, especially for rowing, was infectious. I was always glad when he came to one of our events. He was unfailingly good company and he could be guaranteed to enliven any occasion with his warmth and his humour and his ability to talk to and get along with everyone. He will be sorely missed.
