David was proof that, in the art of advocacy, charm and good sense succeed more than aggression or decibels. As well as being a delightful guy, he was a highly effective advocate, whose performance came over as effortless and elegant but resulted from many hours of hard work in mastering the documents and the issues. How he managed to put in all those hours, while pursuing so many other interests, was miraculous. And it was impossible to meet him without sharing a laugh, and coming away with a funny tale to brighten the day. Everyone who knew him will miss him hugely. Jeremy N.
